Have had trouble last 3 cycles. Have felt like I need an increase of Lex since Dec. but can't get in to pdoc until April. Have been taking 20mg, in Jan. I started taking 25mg with minimal improvement, need to go to 30mg but can't get increase until I see pdoc. Before Dec. had no problems w/cycle, when Lex is *working* (when I get right dose). I know it's not working because I have had 3 BIG fights w/hubby at that time of month (I've been tracking it) since Dec., whereas before (last year) zero fights.

Hmm . . I wouldn't say it's Lexapro. Even on an antidepressant I've had PMS or worse anxiety or depression symptoms. There's been so many months where I ended up crying in bed over nothing. I took Lexapro for a while, and it was no different.

But . . several anxiety attacks in one day! Is it extra worry/anger/agitatedness brought on by the PMS that's causing anxiety attacks? Or are they just physical attacks that strike more out of the blue than from worry?

If you can figure out what is causing these, you can work on them from the angle of either taking something extra during your premenstrual week to prevent or alleviate attacks, or working on the issues that are causing anxiety, or both.

Hi Mystic -
Ooooohhhh Yeeeessss! During the week before my period my symptoms are much more apparent. I've been on Lex for 4 months now and I am down to one bad "attack" during that time & a slight case of the blues - not too bad considering pre-Lex it was an almost daily thing. Hang in there, you'll begin to even out and if not, supplementing with something else during that week sounds like a good way to go.

Hope you're doing better today!
~ Lynne

I take 30 mg and am doing very well on it (along with 10 mgWellbutrin SR).

It's really a shame that you and some others have to wait for appointments in order to get a dose increase.

I guess I'm lucky. I see my internist, not a pdoc, and whenever I feel the need for an increase, I call him on the phone and he returns my call the same day and calls the pharmacy with my increase.

Mystic,
Not sure if anyone has informed you of the week 5 slump on lexapro. For some reason or another around week 5 people feel that lexapro is not working, or feel a return of effects after they thought there were in a general upswing. Hang in there for me week was when all the negitive thoughts ect began to go away. I just upped to 15mg yesterday and am hoping that gets me back to me. Good luck and God Bless...
Lexy
