Posted by AnAPa on February 20, 2004, at 1:17:29

anyone have any advice???? ihave taken celexa, effexor, lexapro, ativan, valium, paixil, lithium, and now prozac and buspar. nothing seems to help my depression and anxiety attacks. the only time ifeel good or atleast normal is when i take vicodin or darvocet. but that's not an ongoing script. they say it's postpartum depression but i had this problem during my pregnancy and even before.
Anyone have any suggestions????

My experience with Prozac went like this,

1st it lifted depression some
2nd it made me very angry

Prozac is activating and not the best for someone with anxiety. This is what I was taught.

My experience with Buspar was like this,

-at low doses it was a mild antidepressant
-at higher doses it made me more aggitated and road rage was awful
-used alone this med really helped in the sexual department

Since, you have had been on many meds, I question how long were you actually on them. Did you give them all a month's trial? If didn't have an adverse reaction, I wonder if the ineffectiveness had to do more with dosage.

When someone says that Xanax, Klonopin or Ativan, I again question the dosage. These meds absolutely work on anxiety. You may need higher dosages to get the relief you need.

If you can get a prescription for it, try buprenorphine (opioid with low abuse/dependence potential). If you cannot get that, another med I would try is Nardil. Great for "treatment-resistant" depression/anxiety/panic attacks.
