night terrors :(

Posted by ann72 on February 14, 2004, at 8:26:38

Hi, Has anyone had night terrors from the effexor lamitcal cocktail? I had some nightmares from effexor in the beginning, but since adding lam. I am feeling weird and last night when I had a night terror, I awoke feeling totally drugged. I was so scared. Has this happened to anyone else?

YES...I was still having them post withdrawl of a few weeks. Read my thread from "sick" the dreams are horrible...they are bad night mares. Once I got up a walked. I cried, I felt I was in a strange place, I could not determine where I was. It's awful, try to get off the anti's. Really...in the long run, a sedative once in awhile is best. I don't mean for those to be long term either or you will get addicted but if you do, you can wean off them...has to be done over about 6 months...but nothing like the effexor withdraw. This is my experience.

I hate night terrors. I never knew what they were until I started having them. Wellbutrin and Effexor both do that to me.

I have not had them with Lamictal alone.

They are horrible. I can't escape mine. I've had them for about three years now and am convinced that they are b/c of the meds. I started painting and so it's really interesting to see what I'm feeling and dreaming come out on canvas. Maybe you should try it? I am not a creative person and never had a lesson but somehow I'm able to get the thoughts out of my head and then I can go back to sleep. I wish I could get rid of mine. It's like a never ending day that keeps going and going in such vivid detail -like you're not asleep but you're somewhere else and you can't get out. Sometimes I have a window that will break me out like when my dog barks at something but sometimes I end up staying in them and I can't get out and then I'm late for work. I wish I had an answer - I'd like one myself b/c I suffer horribly in this dept.

Im sorry to hear others are going this. I hate waking up soaked with sweat or feeling so scared. I hope this is only short term for me. I couldnt imagine years of this..
