Excuse my wording. I have recently been taken off adderal xr 20 mg and 10 mg dexadrine a day for add and placed on provigil 200 mg a day.
I miss the "calm" i was getting from the adderal but my doctor is also weaning from benzos and wanted me off adderal . any help appreciated mik

Just curious--why off Adderall? Is it temporary to minimize benzo withdrawal?

my pdoc tried to switch me from dexedrine to provigil. my provigil experience was that it caused me to be agitated and short tempered. also made my depression worse!

Your pdoc thinks you abuse drugs. Do you agree? I am guessing you have been dx ADD or something like it, as that so? How long have you been treated? Did the treatments help? Were you given a tapering down time or just ripped off the drugs?

I don't know your history of course but benzo and speed are like ringing bells and dancing around saying ADDICT. this is sad because they can be used safely by many people who need them and are not addicts. But some pdocs and others will never see this. What treatment do you want? What treatment do you feel would help you, and what is the nature of your condition? I am just opening dialogue, feel free to ignore these questions, I am not prying, but trying to make more sense of your doctor's actions. good luck. ps. you could easily be having some wrenching withdrawal symptoms from your former meds. yiu'd have to wash out awhile to know if provigil is okay for you. it can be mildly anti-depressant. It only helped me focus in the middle of the night, leading to mania.

Provigil (modafinal) I think is not an "antidepressant", but it could make a depressed person feel better since it gives more energy. But a depressed person would have to also be on an antidepressant at the asme time. Docs like Provigil because most people don't get side efects from it.

Provigil often does give a euphric feeling for the first couple of weeks, but then it goes a way.

Maybe you should try to convince your doctor that you will not abuse drugs, and to let you once again go on Adderal.
