Anybody taking adderall and it makes you sleepy? I feel like I need a nap after each dose.

Do you have ADHD or just ADD (inattentive/disorganized, etc.)? This may have something to do with you feeling sleepy after taking a dose. also, are you on XR or regular, and how many mgs. are you taking at dosing time(s)?? all of these factors could contribute...let me know if you want--I've been on Adderall over a year now. It doesn't tend to make me sleepy, but I could be taking more/less/@ diff. times, etc...

I take 10 mg/ 3 x day. I have ADD (inattentive). I feel very confused and completely incapable of any organizational skills, even after taking my dose. The only other drug I've been on is Straterra, which did nothing even on the max dose.

>Excessive Daytime Sleepiness is often seen in patients with ADD, but it is NOT a symptom of ADD. You should see a sleep specialist and have an overnight sleep study to determine whether your sleep is conducive to feeling alert in the day or not. Many with ADD have apnea, a treatable condition. I have it myself, and I'm a scrony 20 yr old.

I also feel sleepy sometimes and more unorganized, but atleast I'm facing and attempting to do things. Instead of feeling overwhelmed and back to bed. On 80 mg prozac and 80 mg Adderall Ext. realease.

Hi, Laree
I just start taking Adderall 20mg xr, I was told that I should take at the morning, but after many years of mis-diagnoze of me bing Bi-Polar and has been in hell for so long, I couldn't wait, so I took one yesterday afternoon at 4:00 pm, I felt great, almost didn't notice any side effect, except I only slept 3 hours last night.
This morning at 9:oo am , I took another one. The only side effect is I don't have desire to eat. and don't feel sleepy today either.
My question for you is "if I don't have side effect, is that mean I'm on right track for meds? "
Aslo should I expect any side effect in the future when the meds start build into my system?

P.S. I also take 1.5mg klonopin for anxiaty total per day

Adderall is an amphetamine. Amphetamines can certainly change on you because you can develop tolerance for them until they don't work as well or don't work at all. On the other hand, I've seen an improved response to them after taking them a few days. But, they don't build up in your system like a re-uptake inhibitor such as Strattera.

IN THE SIDE EFFECT LABEL, ONE OF THEM INCLUDES FATIGUE AND SLEEPINESS. THIS IS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL THAT SUGGESTED THAT DAYTIME SLEEPINESS WAS NOT APART OF ADD MAYBE A SLEEP APNEA OF SOME SORT. MAYBE YES IS WE FELT THAT WAY BEFORE TAKING ADDERALL BUT NOT IF ALL OF A SUDDEN WHILE WERE TAKING IT. IT'S ONE OF THE SIDE EFFECTS!
