Premature Menopause
I was 36 years old when my menopause symptoms became too grave to ignore. Sleepless nights, night sweat, hot flashes, extreme PMDD and weight gain. Life was quite depressing. After battling this for 2 years (after taking many test that did not show any significant abnormality, trying different pills of different types), I started METFORMIN (glucophage). My life is transformed! My menopause symptoms are gone, my mood is totally better, I’m slowly loosing pounds and my periods are more regular than they have ever been. I’m a normal person! It’s amazing! For me it truly has been a cure.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Anyone know of any research on this?Liv

I believe many, many women start menopause much earlier than the docs believe. I was in my early forties and had the symptoms you described. They did nothing because my blood tests showed nothing. Its slowly being recognized as "peri-menopause", which can last for years before it shows up in any blood test and it is NOT being given the attention and research it deserves. Hooray for you for persuing it and finding something that works for you. Youve done a lot of women a great service by posting this information!!!
