Effexor XR..........my eight months a nightmare!!!

Posted by dassad on December 22, 2003, at 12:58:45

Ive been taking anti-deppresants since i was 18, first seeing my family doctor complaining about fatigue, lose in interest in activities, loss of concentration and breaking out in tears more than usuall. I went from celexa, wellbutrin, effexor, paxil and some others I cant name since there was so many with minimal effect. I read some articles about the pills, family doctors that wont exceed dosage but switch prescriptions witch is not allways the best way. I started seeing a psych doctor who started me off on effexor xr 37.5 and concerta an ADD drug for my concentration. Didnt see that much difference, we raised up the dose. Around 150 to 275mg I noticed a little gain. I wasnt as sad, was more calmer less agetaded, but anxiety levels went high and took me longer to ejaculate, my partner had no problems with that. Still had frequent problems with depression. Went up to 375mg and thats when all the pian started. I missed only one dose and I paid for it that night. It seemed like every fear and stress I had at the time occured in one measly dream. I went cold at night and just felt like I was going crazy. My head was just fogged with heavy thoughts of suicide. We added wellbutrin to the mix and Ive been on it for a week and a half. Still no help. I missed another dose, my second in 8 months and it felt like I was going to die. Thats why I wrote my story. Theres ups and downs in my life on antideppresents but I think I typed long enough. Sorry about the babbling but if anyone had the same problem please let me know im not the only one.

I agree with you that docs often times give up on a drug instead of raising the dose.

Your problem with Effexor is very common. It's important to take it on time.
