it will be a full 4 days of washout. i once did it in a day and a half. i am too depressed and i need to start. i see my therapist at 9am and will take 15mgs in his office just to feel safe.
im just praying i do not run into serotonin syndrome. God help me. everyone is pulling for me.

I don't know what drug you are coming off of. It takes at least a week for MAO activity to be reduced significantly. You should be OK. Coming off of Prozac might be a problem, of course, because the half-life of its active metabolite is a week or more.
Good luck. I know how hard it is to be patient, but try not to shovel handfuls of Nardil down your throat.

scott i was on effexor xr for 4 weeks and remeron for 5 days together. i took my first dose of Nardil today at 10am. i aim to take 15mgs at 4pm and 15mgs at bedtime. so far i show no signs of serotonin syndrome although of course i am very nervous of the thought. i once made the switch from zoloft and remeron to nardil in 1 day. but each time you fear for your life no matter how much you think you know.
Ace. you once mentioned you went to the ER after coming off Anafranil and restarting Nardil in 2 days. what did you feel? at the ER did they treat you for SS?
i need to get well on nardil and this time STAY on it when the sexual side effects come and the weight gain. i have been on and off nardil so many times in the last 2 and a half years its sickning. the most days i ever stayed on was 110 days.

Hi ross:
I can almost feel your panic jumping right through the computer. It sounds like you have been through this before and you were okay. You will be okay this time. You are be closely supervised by your doctor. Although I don't know much about serotonin syndrome, I believe you may end up with a major headache and some shakiness, as opposed to a hypertensive crisis from food interaction from Nardil.
Ross, try to relax. At least you know that Nardil is going to work for you. There are so many of us that stay deeply depressed every day because the right drug or combo has not been found and don't know if we will ever get well. I am on week 6 taking Nardil for the first time, and can only pray that it will work. I can barely stand this unrelenting, dark, disabiling, hell of depression. I am 51 years old and have suffered depression all of my life. I almost feel Nardil is my last chance after 25 years of different meds, combos, ECT twice, on and on ............
Ross, you are going to be okay. Relax. Seriously, do some deep breathing and refocus your attention. Remember the advise from Ace. You will soon be telling him how well you are feeling and that you will never stop taking Nardil again.
Slow down, take it easy, refocus, deep breath and let us know how you are doing.

But I believed I suffered the SS twice. First time- 10 days after stupidly stopping Nardil. Within 2 hours of 25mg Anafranil I was feeling REALLY weird- panicky, sweating. It was hard to tell where I was. I took 20mg Valium and relaxed at the hospital. No probs after that.
Anyhow I continued Anafranil for 3 more days and it caused really bad depression. Had 2 days off and went back to nardil. This SS lasted a few days. I remember at one point I became almost psychotic. I felt extreme euphoria at one point. One night I took 60mg (only 3 days after stopping Anafranil i think)- had to go to ER again. Was just really scared and trembling. They didn't have any tests they could run!
This SS lasted about a week and was mild-moderated. Mostly I was shivering and felt strange. Panicky at times. But just a very wierd feeling.
Ross- don't fool around man, SS isn't fun. Be careful bro. AND STAY ON NARDIL! I AM NOW SUFFERING BAD ANORGASMIA AND CONSTIPATION- I LOVE NARDIL MORE 'CAUSE I CAN LEAD A NORMAL LIFE ON IT.
