Nardil + Reboxetine....comments...

Posted by ace on December 10, 2003, at 19:34:18

My cranium never stops does it!!?

This is another combo I'm thinking off

It's officially contraindicated but so are a lot of drugs people safely take with Nardil.

Reboxetine is a potent norepinephrine agonist. Used with Nardil I will be in norepinephrine heaven.

Any comments on the safety/efficacy/experience/ of this combo???

Ace,

I can't comment from personal experience, but one researcher has extolled the virtues of combining an MAOI with a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor http://www.psychotropical.com/notes/220.html

I CAN, however, comment on the virtues of norepinephrine itself, since I'm on two potent NRI's: nortriptyline and Strattera. (Buspirone also is conjectured to work through noradrenergic channels as an NE alpha-2 antagonist.) I obviously need all the norepinephrine I can get, since no drug or combination of drugs in the past has ever enabled me to be anything like the (relatively) functional person I am these days! It's as if my brain is turned 'off' without the extra NE activating it.

Good luck with the NE research.

The only thing that ever worked for me was a combination of Parnate + desipramine. I was fine on this for over 9 months. Unfortunately for me, the genius doctor who found these drugs to begin with took me off of them in order to play with the then newly-approved Prozac. He neglected the obvious. Parnate + desipramine never worked for me again. A nasty lesson in neuroplasticity. If you get it, don't let it go. It is often much harder to recapture a response once it is lost.

Have you dropped Amisulpride? How long have you been on it? Give it 2-3 weeks a try - it is a wonderful med when it kicks in.

Hey dude,

Thanks for enquiring. OK, it's now 1 week and 5 days on Amisulpride at 50mg. (2 days I did 100mg) Yesterday I noticed my motivation and was up and social phobic effects down. Nothing amazing but something was happening.

I remember most meds kick in over a period of a week for me. ie 1 days is good, the next is better, the next is even better, the next is great etc. This is what happened with Nardil. 1 day I felt dood and very motivated, within one week after that day I was on the moon!

I rarely, but sometimes, get these 'zap' effects ie all at once drug kicks in.

Qstn for you- did it kick in overnight or within a few days it got better and better?

Does my situation sound as if it will kick in more and more each day, given my experience yesterday?

How long before the greatest effect- 3/4 weeks?

I will give this drug at least 4 weeks- I loved your posts man- they helped me decide on using it! See, this internet does help!

Ace.
Nardil 90mg
Amisulpride 50mg.

I agree but how long did you try the Parnate + Desipramine combo again. I heard of a fellow who went of Nardil a few times. Each time back on it it always worked but progressively took much longer to work (and s/effects to fade) The last I heard it took 4 months to finally kick in!

The Parnate + TCA combo probably would work again- but might take AGES.

Also, you think NARDIL + Reboxetine is quite safe- just like TCA + Nardil??

Thanks Scotty,

Ace.

One day it just hit me. I was sipping my drink and felt very *non-anxious*. I thought it was placebo or simply that's how I felt that day. But it was the drug that kicked in. From that day, I've had all the positive effects of Ami without any side-effects.

> Does my situation sound as if it will kick in more and more each day, given my experience yesterday?

Hard to say. In my case, during my treatment I was about to drop Ami at around 2 week mark, because I thought that it wasn't working. But somehow I kept using it and after 3 weeks it kicked in.

> How long before the greatest effect- 3/4 weeks?

The greatest effect where at 4 week mark - just one week after it kicked in. I felt as if I found a drug that will change my life totally. And it did :)

Thanks for the good words my man, and definitely give it a go for 4-5 weeks. Amisulpride is da sh*tzzzz ;-))
