BP in conjunction with chronic pain (Fibromyalgia)

Posted by Red Sonja on December 6, 2003, at 17:34:30

The combination of bipolar and fibromyalgia has really got me down. In the past 18 months I have attempted suicide 6 times. Three when in depression (OD on meds) and three when manic (train track, walking down Hwy, mtn climbing after dark).

Currently my meds do a so-so job of controlling my mood swings and anxiety attacks but I still fight serious, short term depression and manic spending sprees. My meds are overlaping and I don't know what is a chronic pain symptom (anxiety and depression) vs a true BP symptom. They are too intertwined.

OK, my current meds include:
3600mg Neurontin (Fibro pain and anxiety)
20mg Lexapro (still am fighting depression, but have been through most of the other major AD's)
1-3mg Valium
3mg Risperdal (works better than Lithium for me)
200mg Trazadone

I have been through most of the narcotic pain relievers including 160mg of Hydrocodone without relief. Only the Neurontin seems to help some. However I need to persuade my pdoc to cover the Neurontin under my psych meds because I am loosing my state med insurance and will not be able to afford it till medicare kicks in (I have been awarded SSID). I will die of OD without Neurontin of that I am sure......

Any and all advise (even personal emails) would be appreciated. I can't be the only one with fibro plus BP.
