Experiences with Lexapro and Wellbutrin requested

Posted by shadows721 on November 18, 2003, at 23:53:03

I recently added Wellbutrin to the lexapro to help with the sexual side effects and fatigue. I have been on the lexapro for 5 weeks and wellbutrin for 1-1/2weeks. I feel disconnected from things. I feel really spacy. I also have more anxiety due to the Wellbutrin. Has anyone had this experience? I am trying to hang on to the Wellbutrin for a few more weeks, but it is really difficult. I have read on other websites that the anxiety from Wellbutrin does subside around 3 - 4 weeks. I also noted my hands have a tremor. All experiences will be deeply appreciated.

Just Curious:

Is the WB helping with your sexual side effects?

I've been on it for 10 days. I haven't noticed a change yet. I have been just suffering with side effects.

I actually was on them... First I was on the 100mg of zoloft and i told my doctor that it was interfering with sexulal side effects so she started switching the meds to see if there was something better for me. She wheemed me down to 50mg of zoloft and put me on 150mg of wellbutrion in the morning and at night. After a month in a half when i went back, she took me completly off the zoloft and put me on lexapro 10mg amd kept me on the wellbutrion. For the first 2 weeks Id say I didnt notice a difference at all. Thats when i started looking
up this med (lexapro) and i found this site. I was reading all the stories on side effects and what not. Id say that the only change I noticed was getting more irritable, more moody, very sensitive..I withdrew from my family, made me not want to be around anyone Basically brought me way down. So i figured maybe this just needs to kick in and take time ya know. But a month and a couple of weeks went by and my mood has not changed, so when going back to the doctor, i told her whats been going on, I asked to go back on the zoloft start on 50mg and up it 100mg and the wellbutrion, but i got the new pill so only once a day now.. But I feel GREAT!!!! I am so happy that i switched back to the zoloft. Even though it brought my sexual side effects down, now i dont know if its the combo with the wellbutrion or what, BUt it is NOT as severe at all. This was my expierence, its different for all, I heard great outcomes, but it wasnt for me. Let me Know How it Goes.

So I was shocked that adding WB to my Celexa made me feel that sad and withdrawn feeling that you describe, Blink23. I'm wondering if I should have been at a higher dose of WB.

Now maybe I'm thinking it's the combo of specific SSRI and WB. Prozac did the same thing, however, Serzone and WB really revved me up and made me all scattered and aggressive.

I think it may be, becuase for that month of horrible mood swings and just not feeling anything.. it was horrible. I am very happy and stable on the 300mg XL and the zoloft. Are you still currently taking the wellbutrion? I think it gives me a burst of energy, Cause with the zoloft made me like a zombie, but it conteracts with the wellbutrion, so it makes me even. I dont get shakes or anything, and i have had some major anxiety going and does not interfear with that.... But yea i actually feel that adding the wellbutrion to certain drugs make a huge difference. I heard a lot of horror stories on here..lol... but i guess i should call mine a fairy tale...just kidding... let me know how things are Craig

Hi folks! My experience: I have been on Lex for about 6 months with only side effect difficulty achieving orgasm. Also 0.25 - 0.5 mg of Klonopin at bedtime for panic. I started WB XL 150 a day about 10 days ago in combo with Lex, and so far not much has changed. I might feel slightly better, but not sure. Same difficulty with sexual side effects. First few days had panic attacks, but now I avoid caffeine, and I don't feel anxious, panicky, or have any trouble sleeping. My neurologist said that WB actually does not have a negative effect on sleep architecture, whatever that means, whereas the SSRIs can. My sleep has been normal, maybe even more restful than previously. Hope this helps! Good luck to all! :-)

I was on Wellbutrin for depression twice, in 1999 and 2001. The first time it worked great, but the second time I had the same problem you mention here. Increased anxiety (which sucked because I already had minor anxiety to begin with) and that disconnected/spacy feeling. I felt like I was a detached observer of everything going on around me. It really freaked me out so I discontinued the Wellbutrin after about 2 months.
