Abilify and Permanent Damage?

Posted by Eggy on November 10, 2003, at 7:37:32

I haven't had Abilify for a week. I experienced blurred vision and severe arm and legs cramps. Plus a fever. I STILL have the arm and leg cramps. They hurt soooo bad. My P-Doc will not do anything at all. He swears it isn't the Abilify. I know it is. I did this on every other antipsychotic and Neurontin. But this time it is really 10 times worse. What do I do? My family doc says he can't treat me because my P-DOC is the one who prescribed it. I am almost out of my "good stuff pain killers". I read that these side effect can be permanent. Has anyone heard this before?

I was on Abilify and discontinued it (without dr's consent or knowledge Oopsie!) and didn't experience these symptoms. I wish I could give you some advice. I would suggest you speak with your Pdoc. Did you taper off or just quit cold turkey? I know I quit cold turkey, but people experience drugs in different ways. Call your doc and see what s/he can suggest. I wouldn't worry aobut the effects beign permanent at this point. I would wait until I had a professional opinion. Take care, Karen

Try taking a lower dose of abilify, then tapper off. I had a lot of bad side-effect when I stoped the abilify after two weeks of use. Panic attacks even though I imediatly started my old AP, depressive thoughts, etc. Abilify takes a long time to get out of your system. Took me almost a month to get back to feeling normal, after stoping abilify cold turky. The simptoms actualy got worser first after I had stoped.
