Adderall 30-40mg/day users - any side effects?

Posted by btnd on October 24, 2003, at 8:02:20

Recently I had to up my dose of Adderall to 40 mg. My worries are mostly about amphetamine's action on liver/kidneys/heart (I'm really paranoid from all those meth+rats studies ;-) Anyways, is it common to have - heart pulpitations (beats-per-minute up to 100-110 BPM), rise of blood pressure (from 120/80 to 140/90) and slight appetite suppresion from Adderall? I'd really appreciate your responses on this subject, Adderall although helps me tremendously on my motivation and energy gives me also the creeps, proably becasue of the whole "amphetamine/methamphetamine stigma". But still, if my heart beats are at such level (heart doesn't hurt or anything) - am I damaging my heart? How about other organs?

I have wondered about that myself. I take 40 mg dexedrine spansule(sr) in the morning with 12.5 mg of adderall. Around 3p.m. I take 25 mg. Sometimes I will not feel much, but my heart will be racing. I notice especially at bed time. I have also developed ecezma on my neck and shoulder. I too get a mild appetite supressing effect, but when it wares off I am starving. I haven't mentioned the heart rate thing to the doc, cuz I don't want him to take me off of it.

I just read something about Melatonin helping ADDers to get to sleep and stay asleep. I may try this. You may have noticed that if you eat too much before or after adderall that it will delay the onset quite a bit. Sometimes I will take a 10 p.m. nap for a couple hours and be awake for 2 or 3. Drives me nuts.
I will try to do some investigation on the heart rate thing.
