Wellbutrin

My Dr. prescribed Wellbutrin along with the Lexapro I was taking because I was having trouble with the sexual side effects of the Lexapro. However this last weekend I became extremely paranoid and agitated after drinking for 2 days. Can someone tell me if the alcohol will curb the effects of the antidepressents or is it just because I've been on the Wellbutrin for only 2 weeks? Can someone please share your experiences with me on this matter. Will it get better the longer I'm on them?

It is never a good idea to drink alcohol while using psychtropic (effects mind) medication. You are fortunate that you had only the reaction you did. Yes if you stay on Wellbutrin it should fully kick in in about three or four weeks. However, I am not completely certain that it will have any 'corrective' effect as far as the sexual side effects. Unfortunatly, Wellbutrin is advertised in the media as "causing FEWER sexual side effects" -- a large number of folks don't stop and think that "fewer" may not necessarily me NO sexual side effects.
