Hi,
I am switching from paxil to effexor and am really hitting a low, I feel horrible. and with the holiday and no family it is scaring me.In any case I am going off paxil and switching to effexor after two years on paxil (it made me sluggish and I gained 30 pounds I can't take off)
I am not on 10 mg of paxil alternating with 5mg every other day, and the first week on effexor I started with 75mg, and now the second week am on 150 mg. Has anyone taken effexor, I feel really depressed so far, how long did it take to work? and what dose are you on. Any positive feedback would be so welcome, I really need support.

Hang in There! I was in your EXACT situation this summer. I went from EffexorXR to Lexapro, and hit an all time low until the Lexapro kicked in, which was quick.
As far as Effexor~yep I took it for years with great success until it stopped working for *me*.
It took about 1 month for *me* to feel the benefits~it may happen for you much sooner.
There's hope, please don't feel alone. Use this board for support when and if you want to, I'm sure you'll be feeling better soon. Effexor really, really worked for *me*.
I only had to take 75mg a day.
Give it time, if you don't, you may never know, and if you do, you may be pleasantly surprised:-)

thank you, so I guess that means that I may have 2 more weeks to go to have any results, but I so appreciate your feedback.
