I was banned from p-babble when all this happened.

About 3 weeks ago I decided to give Parnate a try to see if I would get a better OCD effect. Also, I was impatient with Nardil to get it's 'ultra-effects' (euphoria) back. Nardil was working well, but after a while when combined with Olanzapine I seemed to have had to lower the Nardil dose, then raise it back up.

Anyhow, I was a greedy pig because Nardil was still acting supreme- boy did I find this out soon (due to not having Nardil in my system).

I switched to Parnate. Over a trial period of 2 weeks 4 days I got deeply depressed , lethargic, irritable, agitated, and angry at the world. Also, my anxiety symptoms got much worse.

In panic, I ceased Parnate, had only a 50 hour washout then restarted Nardil. It took 4 days for Nardil to start working. The 50 hours in addition to the 4 days it took Nardil to start working were MISERY. I was very close to hospitalizing myself. I was in CONSTANT fright, with a huge black depression. I could not function. I was crying all the time (very strange, my depression before had never been accompanied by crying spells). I was anxious when out of the house, anxious when in the house. I was a total mess.

But I hung on...on that 4th day Nardil started to work...it gave me hope. But the next few days still consisted of some significant depression and anxiety.

I have now been 1 week back on Nardil.

Literally, within the past 4/5 hours, It has kicked 90% back in. This morning, and when I wrote the above post, I was 65% recovered, now I am 90% recovered.

At the time of writing I feel wonderful! And my anxiety is gone! I feel the Nardil 'flavour' in my body all over!

Nardil is the greatest and I will never go off this baby again.

I hope I havent bored anyone with this, but I hope this can help some of you guys. I certainly was reading some of your posts when I was in the abyss- they gave me hope.

So, there we go. Ace is back to his Nardil best!
I am not kidding you guys when I believe that the Superman cape should have an 'N' for Nardil in the centre, not a 'S'!!!

I also believe Nardil should be put in every countries drinking water supply!

Mr. Ace Nardil.
Forever Nardil Heavyweight champion!, 60mg.

PS- All you guys RULE!!!

Yeah me too, I like Ace's style of writing "under-the-influence" of Nardil :-)

BTW Ace, have you ever tried Amisulpride?

You going to stay on the Nardil? Ace, I had an oddly similar reaction to Parnate years ago after switching to it from Nardil.

Also, have you ever tried Selegiline?

Good luck --

Hi friend!,

No I have never tried Amisulpride...BUT it's on the list for my OCD. Of course I will add it to my Nardil. I've heard some great things about Amisulpride- at a low dose it enhances dopaminergic action- this is great, because I believe low levels of dopamine can very plausibly be correlated with many disorders (OCD, GAD, Depression etc). Everything has been about serotonin lately...serotonin this...serotonin that! Well if simple serotonin deficiency was the cause of depression, SSRI drugs would cure depression within a matter of hours....but, alas, they don't.

Thanks again and take Care...you'll be seeing some of my crazy posts...don't worry about that!!!

Ace.

Under the influence of Nardil!!!, 60mg.

ABSOLUTELY!! I behaved like a fool going off it in the middle of a hectic uni semester...now I have Sooo much study to catch up on!

I had an oddly similar reaction to Parnate years ago after switching to it from Nardil.

Tell me what happened with your Parnate. How long were you on it...it caused a really bad low feeling in me...I could only put up with 2 weeks and 4 days.

> Also, have you ever tried Selegiline?

No...but I have read some good reports about this.

Good luck to you my friend!

Ace.

Hi,
I have a few questions for you if you don't mind. I am new to this site, not new to anxiety or depression. I have been diagnosed with severe GAD with secondary depression. I have been put on parnate, started at 20 mg. I have read conflicting information regarding which one works better for anxiety, and I was wondering if you suffered more from depression or anxiety? This is my first MAO after being on 10 other meds in the past 6 years, I can't really say that parnate is working or isn't working. I still have clonazepam to help me through the evenings.
Any info would be greatly appreciated,
-hockeygirlcanada aka Jill

Hi Jill,
I believe without a doubt, and this is based on not just my experience, but also my reading of many, many clinical reports and anecdotes, that NARDIL is the better agent to use in anxiety. Indeed, Nardil interacts with GABA (the 'calm' neurotransmitter) whereas Parnate does not. That being said, I have heard of some who respond great to Parnate for anxiety. But I have never ever, or maybe once or twice at the very most, heard of anyone deeming Parnate superior over Nardil for anxiety. A few seem to think it is better, and more geared towards depression.

You say your depression is secondary- I would urge a trial of NARDIL. Give the Parnate a bit more time but if it doesn't work, don't despair, Nardil is available.

I myself suffer from just about every anxiety disorder there is! My depression can be severe at times, but is secondary to my anxiety symptomatology. Nardil works WONDERFUL for both...

Good luck!

Ace.
