Switching MAOIs

Posted by Marginal on October 11, 2003, at 17:44:04

In'm about to start a Selegiline trial, with Nardil on deck just in case. If I have to switch, what's the wash out from one MAOI to another? Hopefully just a few days....or longer?

Any experienced MAOI users, please help. thx

They say 14 days. Too much IMO. I switched to Parnate 1 day after Nardil and then the next day back to Nardil!

Then after 2 weeks 4 days I switched, after a 50 hour washout, to Nardil again. No probs at all.

Too be safe, and this is if your not suffering greatly at the moment, I'd give it 7 days. I say this because I've read of a person having a stroke when switching between Parnate and Nardil without 7 days washout. But both times I switched I was suffering greatly- this suffering necissitated a quick switch.

Good luck!
Ace.

Yeah i really think 14 days is too long too, depending i guess on how long has been on an MAOI. But i would say that going from Nardil to Parnate or selegeline requires more caution than going from one of those to Nardil.

I've read that going to Nardil from Parnate is much safer than vice versa.

You ment this didn't you?!
