I am currently taking 75mg of Effexor. My doctor wants me to start taking 150mg.
Will this cause me to gain weight? I have an eating disorder (just another issue in my life) and I am wondering about gaining weight.
Thank you.

In reply to hello I am new and have a question about effexor, posted by sarahsundae on October 9, 2003, at 8:43:21
I am sure you know that every medicine affects everyone DIFFERENTLY.
I have taken Effexor, and to my knowledge it did not affect my weight nor does it have a reputation for doing so (unlike Paxil).
Effexor should give you an energy boost which will perhaps result in becoming more active and perhaps weight loss.

thanks for the reply. I have been taking it since July and I haven't seen an increase in weight, but with my ED and all, I worry. I was given the Effexor because my doctor thought it would be the easiest for me with that issue.
At the moment I am on 75 but I will be going to 150 this weekend.
When I first started taking it I had no desire to eat at all. The only thing I noticed was my cravings for sweets. (not good).
