to AMISULPRIDE users and experts: Help!

Posted by JGm on September 25, 2003, at 19:54:28

Hi to everybody,
I got a question that is a truble: after 100 trials on every AD without any right effects (i'm dystimic) i found out a drug that works: amisulpride.
50 mg works immediatly (within 4 hour) and change in better all my profile: became talkative, bright mood, sociable, active and energetic, no more bad thoughts, no obsession on trouble of life, good self-esteem....it seems a miracle!
The problem:
These great effects lasts only 2 days, and at the end of the 2nd day of assumption every right effect vanished and i fall in a deep dizzyness, kind of somnolence, less energy than normal, less talkative, bad mood and heavy eyes....worst than the normal situation.
I tryed it for a lot of times (takeing 1 week of vacation between) and the scene always repeat in the same way and with the same timeing.
What should i do? I have no idea, but i'm desperate cause i think amisulpride reach my target.
Perhaps 50 mg could be too high dosage? But, now, why side effects do not appears from the beginning of the trial?(just like every AD!)
Perhaps Amis at this dosage works (after few days) like an pure Antipsicotic?
I have tortured my mind trying to understand what's happend an what should i do. The only thing that i want is not to go out the only drug have ever worked for me!
Could you help me with any idea, counseil, or everyting you wanna share?
Thanks very much in advance and apolgz. for my horrible english.

Ohhh.. I feel for you. I had same experience on ritalin and dexedrine and have exact same problems. I normally just feel low (everthings boring and useless, although I know I could be enjoying it, hard time talking, dont feel like socializing though i want to, poor concentration, etc...) I tried amisulpride with no effect, im sorry to say. I am currently on mirapex (a dopamine agonist). Ill tell you how it turns out. Keep in touch. By the way what country are you from?

This is what my doctor would say :
Its a placebo effect

I hate that answer , I had similiar experiences with some medicines , and I could feel it that it was not a placebo effect . I think is the medicine that is doing something in your brain
of course its not a placebo effect

Hi to all and thanx for your share!

Jonh K: I'm from Italy, Venice (Venezia). Keep me update!

Tepiaca: I'm completely agree with you. I've million doubd about drugs effects, but i'm SURE that Amis immediate effect is not a placebo effect: i became a different man, every people around me note this!
I think that often when docs couldn't expain an effect, they call it "placebo". The fact is that no one knows exactly how drugs act in our brain.

Best wishes for you all, an keep posted!!
