Lexapro....or Con......

Posted by Simbadog on September 16, 2003, at 13:48:03

New reader to this sight. Glad to hear others having chaleenges with Lex. I was on celexa for 1 year, great results...decided I was fine...4 months later a very grumpy bear..Doc prescribed Lexapro, said it was the latest and greatest. 3 1/2 weeks later I feel worse off then before. My temper is better, but I feel jittery and sluggish. The celexa took about 4 weeks to kick in so I'm hoping this will work soon. I read that some of you found your self better at 6 weeks. Any similiar feelings??
Thanks and good luck to all.

Hi, welcome to the site, I've been on Lexapro now for about 7 weeks. I actually found myself feeling better the first week. My doctor said it worked fast~she was right. This is just my experience.
Sometimes with these meds *it gets worse before it gets better*~I won't beat around the bush. I had similar feelings to what you describe here, but they did pass. I gave Lexapro a good chance, and am still on it. There are a lot of wonderful, helpful people here,
keep us posted:-)

I started Lexapro two weeks ago, and felt pretty good about a week into it. Then the last 4 or 5 days, I've been a little tired and a lot irritable, a bit apathetic now too. Nonetheless I can function better than before I started so i'll keep pushing and hopefully in a few weeks everything will work itself out.

When I started i thought...great results in a week or two! but after finding this board, last week i feel a bit more realistic about it, besides the initial help, i guess ill have to, and i will wait

It could take 6-8 weeks befor you feel the *benefits* of Lex, and as others have said, it can get worse befor it gets better. I had deep depression and lots of anxiety around wk 4-5, did not really feel like Lex was working until week 9.

Hang in there as the end results have been well worth the pain and wait for me and many others who have posted here.

Keep us posted on your progress!~~~8|8
