Self adjust

Posted by Sebastian on July 17, 2003, at 11:48:00

Self adjuated my medication last night. The Zyprexa is too strong, so I reduced it to 7.5mg from 10mgs. So far so good! My plan is to slowly taper off it over the next few years. Yes I tried to call my doctor about it, but he didn't return my call in time. Atleast their is a message on his machine so if I go insaine he will know.

Reduced again, 7.5 down to 6.25. Just feeling a little withdraw, but OK. Next week I'll go down to 5mgs.

I have a formula for half-life in a spread sheet on Excel, it tells me how much withdraw I'm going to feel each day and exactly how much I have in my system that day. Neet or what? So my hole plan is set out, how much to take each day and suffer the least withdraw.

Just like Rob I'm not enjoying my withdraw. My sleep is not so refreshing any more, feeling tired all day, not rested. And I'm only half way there. I'm not giving up this time. I'll just slow down till my body can adjust.

Withdraw is not as bad anymore and sleep is going back to normal.

Why is Zyprexa so bad?

I've never had such a hard time getting off of any drug other than Zyprexa? I don't even know if I want to stop taking it any more, just because I feel awfull.

Started 3.75mg tonight. Don't know why I was having such a hard time reducing last time?

Congrats on sticking with it. Reading back through the thread, you've made quite a lot of progress. I like the Excel spreadsheet idea. It gives you some *control* over the situation. Keep posting. You'll provide inspiration to others.

Finaly saw my doctor after all the adjustments. He didn't understand that I would realy want to do all this before the apointment. So we worked out that the side-effects we not fun and we would do less medicine than before but more than I have been taking recently. 5-7.5 mgs Zyprexa, all the way back to 60 on the cellexa, and 2/100mg wellbutrins.

Sebastian

P.S. the holiday was fun, back to work.
