I could use some advice. I have depression and GAD (as a result of or causing Fibromyalgia). My doc tried me on Gabitiril for the anxiety, pain relief, and sleep help in addition to prozac (which I love). It did well on all of the above (does not get me to sleep but improves the quality of the sleep I do get. Ambien keeps me asleep and does not make me groggy in AM), EXCEPT I feel stoned all day long. (2 mgs twice a day. One dose at night wore off by 4 pm and anxiety and pain doubled). It was impossible to function on my job since I kept drifting off into never-never land. I quit taking it after a few days.
My main concern is finding an alternative to anxiety that won't get me high.
I should say that I am afraid of Paxil because of the weight-gain.

I might suggest a very, very small dose of either Prozac, or a stimulant, but I know the stims are hard to get from many doctors. Welbutrin sent me 'bonkers', into hypo-mania, but it may just as well work for you. It might be a 'trial-and-error' thing, as it really is for most of us. It may take some time...but I feel it is worth investigating all of your options.
Best wishes,
Jay

Thanks Jay, I am taking prozac (20mgs). It has helped on the depression but doesn't seem to do anything for the anxiety.
How would a stimulant help with anxiety? Or do you mean on top of an anxiety med? That sounds like drugs on top of drugs for the drugs, you know?
I mourn the loss of Kava. Worked perfectly. Thanks for the support.
