Is Pregablin to Neurontin what Lex is to Celexa???

Posted by Jack Smith on July 16, 2003, at 18:13:15

Meaning is it just a "new" version of the same thing? Lexapro being essentially a gimmick to extend patent protection. Does anyone think Pregablin will actually be a real improvement on Neurontin? From what I read it is essentially just a tweaked version of it. . . . .

jack,
in studies it is 4 to 10 times stronger than neurontin. you can find that on Pubmed. it also has strong effacicy for social phobia and GAD.
i talked with my pdoc about it yesterday and he says the studies are mind blowing. and he is a very good and sharp pdoc. he also said we are waiting on it like Pfizer to be launched at the end of the year.

Trust me, I hope you are right but I remain the skeptic. (don't want to get my hopes up that something could finally kill that g-ddamn constant lump in my throat). I remember reading all this crap about Lexapro and from what I have heard, read etc. it is no better than celexa, in fact, I have heard it is a little less efficacious. But, again, I hope your pdoc is right.

I've talked to my two neurologists at the University of California, Davis, about it, and they both said that, while pregabalin is effective at lower doses, the only other major difference from Neurontin is that it has been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies.

Jack, Pregablin to Neurontin what Lex is to Celex

"that g-ddamn constant lump in my throat"

>>>>>>>>> Jack, do you have a constant "fear" sort of feeling as well....an often-present feeling of fear?
Just wondering....I'll get that "fear" feeling even though I'm not afraid of anything at all at the time....crappy feeling......take care!
