lexapro help (Mitch?) anyone

Posted by e503 on July 16, 2003, at 18:37:01

Ben is/was on risperdol 75 mg. p.m. We started him about 2 weeks ago on lexapro. we started at 2.5 mg. /day and then about a week ago increased to 5 mg. /day. Mitch, as you might remember, we had to give ben his zoloft during the day, as he was somewhat manic (rebound?) when we gave it to him at night. Anyways, we have been giving him 2.5 mg. 2 x a day (a.m. and after school) and he does seem somewhat better. problem is, he seems MORE OBSESSIVE (similar to what we saw when he was on abilify----). Can you or anyone give me an idea why this is? Is there something that is similar to abilify and lexapro that could explain why he is so obsessive? And if so, what should I do? Cut it back or increase it? HELP! I will try to call the pdoc tomorrow, but in the meantime, i need some help trying to understand why this is happening when, in fact, it is supposed to help OCD.
thanks,
elise

In what way(s) is he more obsessive?

he just won't let go of certain things he likes - he's autistic - I think it is a way of him dealing with anxiety. I am guessing that at some times he is anxious from the lexapro?
