Other Anxiety AD's that mix well with Effexor?

Posted by KimberlyDi on July 8, 2003, at 16:34:11

I'm on Effexor and it's been a lifesaver for me. However, I'm getting to a point where I might need a higher dosage. I'm afraid to increase the dosage because it has raised my blood pressure enough to worry my pdoc. Are there any other AD's that will work with Effexor that helps anxiety? I'm a *recovering alcoholic* so I don't believe I'll get prescribed Benzo's. <darn the bad luck> Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Kim

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm in recovery and have been sober for just 79 days now and been attending many AA meetings. I just started Effexor XR 37.5mg after quiting Lexapro after 11 weeks. Could easily get but don't want to even attempt Xanax or Valium because I know where that would lead for me.

Hi,

It's not an AD but works well with efexor for anxiety--neurontin...Works better than benzo for me.
It is expensive though.
Take care..

i'm a long time effexor user and recently was prescribed seroquel. it's been very helpful for anxiety. incidentally, my dose is relatively low (100mg) but i felt the improvement right away at 12.5 mg.
