OK, tried the Wellbutrin - no good for my tendency to suffer from panic/anxiety. Switched to Prozac which seemed to work well enough that I met a wonderful young woman. Unfortunately, I had little to no desire and difficulty for sex. So I quickly quit the prozac. For those wondering, yes the sex comes back and is great again.
So, I actually am feeling pretty good over all and the new relationship has certainly much if not everything to do with it. But I'm still thinking that I may want to pursue an AD. If not right now, down the line. I certainly don't want to be where I was a few months ago.
My guess is all the SSRI's will probably all do a number on my sex drive. At least is seems to be a prevelant complaint with all of them. Wellbutrin is out due to heightened anxiety and Effexor out because I already have a tendancy to slip into a high normal blood pressure.
Serzone seems like it might not be a bad option. Anyone on it care to comment. My three concerns with Serzone are:
1. How effective of an AD is it?
2. How dangerous is the liver thing?
3. Will it affect my sex drive/performance like prozac?

Pretty effective for me in a very mild way. Some feel it does nothing, but I could feel its effects. It is somewhat sedating, especially at first, but your body will adjust.
2. How dangerous is the liver thing?
I went back on it even after the liver concerns, because although the liver effects are higher than first thought, they are still considered rare. They can be severe, so I would suggest a baseline liver test before starting the med, and then monthly blood tests thereafter. I am no longer on it, because I had a positive effect from extra Neurontin.
Will it affect my sex drive/performance like prozac?
I have noticed a slight delayed orgasm, but nothing like prozac. It did not affect drive at all.
Hope that helps!

When I needed an antidepressant _and_ a sex life at the same time, I turned to Serzone. It worked really well -- I hardly felt like I was on anything. I had the mood lifting, anxiety correction, but not mood flattening or sexual side effects.
I remember at first on it, I felt sleepy, forgetful, and queasy. Over time, those se's passed. The one se I had that stayed was a mild bloating; I looked heavier than I was. But it was worth staying on despite that.
It only took 2-4 weeks for the initial side effects to wear off.
This is the end of the thread.
