Anybody taking more than 40 mg Celexa a day?

Posted by McPac on June 24, 2003, at 17:22:46

Found on web: "The recommended starting dose is 20 milligrams once a day. Dosage is usually increased to 40 milligrams once daily after at least a week has passed. Do not exceed 40 milligrams a day."

>>>>>>>>>>>> 40 mg/day is TOPS? Anybody w/ severe depression, how much Celexa do you take? Also, OCD frequently requires a HIGHER dose than depression...anybody taking Celexa for ocd...what dose? Ever go beyond 40 mg/day? THANKS to ALL who respond!!!!!!

I am taking 80 mg a day for OCD and having no problems with side effects! I was on 60 mg a day for depression but we recently upped it. You can DEFINITELY take more than 40 mg a day!

McPac- have you made the choice too change dude? If so, be careful with Zoloft w/drawal- get on the new drug ASAP dude. I had a horror w/drawal from Zoloft, had to quit uni for a term. But then again, I didn't switch too anything. Whwn i wnt off it 2nd time went straight to bliss (ie Nardil!)- no problemo.

Keep me posted champ!

Ace- You are my hero! I absolutely love your posts and it makes me so happy that you are doing well on your beloved Nardil! I think an average dose of Celexa probably is 40 mg but we OCD'ers need higher doses of all the SSRI's. McPac- The only side effects I've really noticed are a decrease in appetite (but that could also be the klonopin we added) and a few random headaches that I never used to get. It has not cured my OCD but it has certainly quieted it down.

My pdoc recommended a book to me- it's not specifically about OCD- but he says it's a must read for anyone with OCD because it's about seperating the thoughts from the thinker. It's Called " The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle. You can also get a book of exercises based on the book. I just started reading it last night and it looks pretty good. Best to all of you, babs

If so, be careful with Zoloft w/drawal- get on the new drug ASAP dude.

>>>>>>>>>>Oh yeah, definitely, I haven't started to switch yet, I'll ONLY start tapering the Z when I get the Celexa IN MY HANDS and start on it!

I had a horror w/drawal from Zoloft, had to quit uni for a term.

>>>>>>>>>>Yeah, I've done the Zoloft withdrawal before, that drug is HELL to come off of!!!!

But then again, I didn't switch too anything. Whwn i wnt off it 2nd time went straight to bliss (ie Nardil!)- no problemo.

>>>>>>>>>> I think Nardil was made just for YOU Ace! Each Nardil pill should come with your mini-portrait on it!

>>>>>>>>>>>>Ace, you are TOO cool! I tried to call Tyson's house repeatedly to arrange the big showdown.....I told him that I was looking to promote a 15-round Heavyweight Title bout between him and you for all the marbles.....he wouldn't come to the phone! Rumor has it that he immediately LEFT TOWN and had his phone number changed....he wants NO PART of you dude! If you're on 90 mg then I'd say he'd be damn lucky to last 90 seconds!!!! Later brother!!!!!!
