Suicidal thoughts: any istant remedy?

Posted by eve70 on May 22, 2003, at 13:29:55

Hi,
I'm unipolar atypic depressed with melanconic simptoms like anergie, apatye, looooow mood, anedonie....
Somedays i reach the bottom and i got suicidas thoughts and desire to die.
I was on every most common AD, Tca and Benzo on the market with a remarkable worsening of the symptoms and depression.
Somedays i feel a little better.....just enough to survive.
Do you think there are istant remedyes for the moments of acute depression and for overcome to the suicidal moments? There is something that works fast on mood?
Thanx very much for your help and apologize for my awful english!
Eve

Zyprexa and risperdal i believe work instantly on suicidal thoughts

Are you on anything now? If not, how come? (Also, when you say most common ADs, are you including MAOIs in that?)

Hi TR thanx for your attention!

<Are you on anything now?<
no, currently i'm not on any AD. Take only natural supplements without any right effect.

<are you including MAOIs in that?>
Unfortunely in my country (europe) Maois are not available on the market: the only one is a combo of Parnate and modalin, a strengh AP, that i think i could not tolerate at all!!

Thanx again!!

You might consider S-AMe (s-adenosyl methionine) as a short-term answer. It works for some people, and should be readily available. It is kind of expensive, though. It can be energizing. In a real emergency, I would recommend Zyprexa.

That's odd. There is one MAOI (Moclobemide) which I thought was only available in Europe. I don't know what this Parnate combo is you mentioned, but Parnate always lifts me out of my depression pretty fast (though it eventually poops out on me). I would give that a try. If the side effects are too bad, you can always stop it. I also tried a combination of Effexor XR and Abilify, which also worked but also pooped out pretty fast. I don't know what is available to you, but if you're feeling suicidal you should definitely be trying different things. Even if something works and then poops out, at least you get some relief. Good luck.
