anyone taking celexa at night?

Posted by den2 on March 25, 2003, at 13:25:23

I am taking celexa in the morning at 9am and it puts me to sleep from 10am to 1pm. If it take it at night will it put me right to sleep?

I also take Celexa in the morning, but I am on some tranquilizing meds as well, both am and pm that I cannot tell if the Celexa is contributing to the tiredness I also feel or not. I find that I have to drink about 16 oz. of coffee after I get up and wow, what a difference. Then I'm fine through the day. My pdoc is going to be taking me off some of the sedating meds, so hopefully this will give me a better idea of how the Celexa is affecting me.

HOWEVER, I have read that of all the SSRI type a-d's, Celexa has the most *neutral* profile in terms of being neither sedating nor stimulating.

What dosage are you on? Might it be too high? You could ask your pdoc if you could switch it to night time and see if it helps you sleep.

In my case, I don't think it's the Celexa that's making it hard for me to feel awake in the am, so I doubt that taking it at night would help me sleep. In fact, I've never heard of Celexa being taken at night to help with sleep. This is just one person's info.

Today is the first day I started to take my Celexa in the evening. I took it with dinner. I was taking it in the morning, but I felt so tired during the day. I wasn't very tired today, for the first time in a long time, because I didn't take the Celexa this morning.

I will let you know if it works. I think it will though. Last time I took Celexa, I took it in the afternoon and I wasn't as tired, so I am hoping it will work.

Good luck. PS., my pupils weren't dilated today, but after I took it at dinner, my pupils got really big again. weird.

Let's keep this thread going and check in. Survey

I have been asking myself the same question, Den.

Why don't several of us here check in after a week or so and answer a few questions (before and after) about our experiences taking Celexa morning vs night?

I have been taking 20mg a day since mid-December and have also noticed a daytime sleepiness (although I have had this problem generally having Glandular Fever 6 years ago). Would like to be part of an experiment (if not double-blinded) comparing daytime dose experiences with night-time ones.

If anyone is interested, I'll devise a survey study. Will stay out of the sample and get an objective medical person to view the questions before they are emailed.

Anyone interested?

Alara

BTW, the more people we get, the more valid the `study'. :-)

I was on Celexa last year for mild depression, and always took it at night. I didn't have any side effects from it, but I started out taking it at night from day 1. It really helped me alot, I'm on Effexor XR now... and miss the Celexa!

Hi, I'm taking Celexa now and I know when I was on Prozac, I felt the same way you do here.
Do you still take it in the morning?
My doc told me to take it in the morning, so I guess I'll see what happens. Who wants to be sleepy from 10am to 1pm-especially if we have to work huh?
Good luck to you,
Pam
