Posted by steve14226 on March 24, 2003, at 16:43:22

I've heard that there is a new antianxity med available that is not addicitive. Anyone know the name and anything about it?

2 weeks? I thought it still had at least some more months... it's delayed pending more safety documentation from the company to the FDA.

Are you in a study for it, or is it actually out already?

Not sure, Gabitril (tiagabine) is an anticonvolsant.

I meant Pregablin

Agg... these gaba names are getting me confused.

Pregabalin is the new anticonvulsant that will be indicated for other conditions, including anxiety, when it comes out in a year or so.

I believe you're thinking of Pagoclone. It's in Phase III trials, I believe, with great results/ much less side effects

Unfortunately, Indevus Pharmaceuticals, the developer of pagoclone is in a holding pattern for testing the drug. They are currently looking for a new partner to bring it to the market and anticipates spending another $40 million in research before it does so. No timelines have been set for a new drug application to the FDA. Probably won't see this on the market til at least late 2004.

Pregablin is diff't from Pagoclone

Just in case there is any confusion. See below for details, I don't know where this is now, perhaps others do?
