I want to stop taking xanax to ge to sleep at night.
I get tired but I wake up all night long and toss and turn eventually it wears me down.
I take lexapro... But I don't think it has my deprssion under wraps.
any suggestions?
I did try seroquel a small bit one night and knocked me out kinda scared me though.
I didn't take it any more.. maybe I need to try that again.
I may be bipolar II also.. I know I have some type of mood disorder.
Thanks!

Hi Rainee- I have cyclothymia. Look that up on the internet. It is a mood disorder like a lesser form of Bipolar II. I take 25mg Seroquel only for sleep. Prozac 40mg. I used to take Xanex and Ambien to sleep but always woke up through the night too! Do you take the Lexapro in the morning?

Hi Jill,

Yes I take the lex in the morning... I thought of the disorder you mentioned. Do you take a mood stabilizer?

Rainee :)

Hi Rainee, if the Seroquel worked for you-why not take a smaller dose? Good idea. I have a horrible time falling asleep because of my racing thoughts and Seroquel is the only thing really that helps me fall asleep.
All the best to you:-)

HiJill,
How do you feel? I'm curious I did look it up and it sounds more like me but my depression can get pretty low. And when I first took prozac years ago I had a hypomanic reaction.. So I don't know what that says about me. But I'm slowly accepting that just a SSRI isn't gonna do it for me.
Thanks for all your help.
Rainee :)

Hi Krissy,
I'm gonna ask the doc about it. Do most people find seroquel super sedating? If I would have taken the tablet he prescribed I would have been on the floor..lol

Hi Rainee, I wish you the best with your doc.
IMHO, I think that those of us that don't have schizophrenia (something Seroqoel is to treat), and take it for other reasons-whatever they are for different people, that yes, it does cause a lot of sedation. I know, like I said, that man, when I took 300mg at times, I was so out of it, my friend was worried. This has also happened when I took 200mg. Maybe it depends on if one is already sleepy??? Not sure.
Good luck again and keep us posted:-)

Hi Rainee- I'm doing ok, I just have to make myself get out of this house. I have no motivation sometimes. With the cyclothymia, I get really low too. I think the whole reason with that diagnosis is the cycling e.g. ok one day down the next. My pdoc said if you are depressed it will be a constant thing for weeks. I started out that way for a few months and then I started having really good days. I would do a weeks worth of stuff in one day and I would be so focused on it. The next day I wouldn't get off the couch! Sorry I am rambling on. How is your sleep doing?

Jill
