Hello out there,
I have been taking effexor for 3 weeks and my awesome sex drive has diminished conciderably and I can't seem to reach orgasm...has this happened to any other women out there and if so does it come back with time or is there anything I CAN DO ABOUT IT?

A female friend of mine went through the same thing on Effexor, loss of sex drive and all. I'm a guy on it, and it definitely does the same thing to us...both my friend and I ditched the medicine as a result. It's just up to you to weigh the benefits vs. side effects. Good luck!

I couldn't orgasm no matter WHAT on Effexor. It was completely impossible even on a very low dose.
I'm sorry I can't help you! For me it was bearable because I still had a libido and sex still felt good otherwise...

I am a male on paxil and have same problem with reaching orgasm. Doc recently added Buspar, but have only been on it a few days. For a guy who loves sex, this sucks. I never realized either that an erection is only half the fun for a woman and male orgasm is good for both parties. (Though in retrospect I am just stupid because 75% of my fun comes from bringing the woman to orgasm).

Im on effexor , only 75 mg /day.
I have the same side effect . It really suck , I dont want this , Im gonna try to down my dose
to 37.5 and see what happen.
Sex Its a very important thinh in life . I cant live with out it . Eventhougth I only have sex with my hand ,I dont like it.

For me, lowering the dose didn't help one bit to reduce sexual side effects -- so keep that in mind. I'd be more inclined to stay at the dose you are at and find other ways to work on the SSE.
I have not tried the following but they could help you:
cyproheptadine (could undo some of the antidepressant effects, it is a serotonin antagonist, supposedly works quite well)
serzone
tribulus terrestis (an herb)
gingko -- I have tried this, with zoloft, didn't help me at all

I was on Effexor at 375mg for about 4 years. I had a strange drive...up then down...evasive orgasms, you bet. I just this winter decided to go off it in search of soemthing better. I haven't found it yet and am on drug replacement number two (Serzone.) I just started taking it yesterday but so it's way too soon to tell and unfortunatly, as a result of doing all this switching, my depression has come back which totally eradicates whatever is left of your drive anyhow. I'm going to have to go back on the Effexor and just live a less sexed life if I can't find a replacement...I fear I'll need to take ADs for the rest of my life and if that means less sex but more comfort, well, maybe that'll just have to be the way it goes. You might want to try and hang on and see if there is some improvement. Like I said, my drive would come and go and sometimes I could reach orgasm more easily.
