Strattera - side effects not mentioned anywhere

Posted by Pheope on March 12, 2003, at 21:27:26

I rescently began taking Strattera for my long-
term, drug resistant depression. My doctors been very careful not to put me on anything that results in weight gain or sedation due to my history. At first I noticed no effect what-so-ever, until I raised my dosage to 80mg and was hit with a whole barrage of side effects; none of which were mentioned in any of the listings I could find. I've kept up on the meds and had good
results emotionally, yet physically I continue to feel ill. I wonder if anyone else has experienced the same thing? Here are some of the things I'm experiencing. Flu-like symptoms, acid reflux (extreme burning in throad and breast bone right after taking meds), muscle aches, tiredness, weight gain, cravings (overeating). Please respond. Thanks

HI, I am also on Strattera for treatment resistent depression as well as ADD (not with hyperactivity). For 6 days have been on 40mg and have noticed less anxiety and depression, however I too have the pain in my chest as well as the cravings and acid burning. I thought that Strattera would decrease my appetite and would not have taken it if I knew it would make me want to eat all the time. I also like pass out 5 hours after taking it but when I wake up a feel very calm. Today I start 80mg once daily. I am willing to stick with these side effects because so far it has been the only med that has even remotely decreased any depression or anxiety. I am a bit concerned about the chest pain too...but I'm going to wait it out. Good luck, let me know what you decide to do.

Hi- i've been taking strattera (25 mg) for about a month now and i'm glad to see i'm not the only one experiencing weird side effects. the first few days, i had the heartburn, and for a week after that i had flu symptoms but no fever. my whole body hurt, i was falling asleep at 7 PM, etc. luckily those side effects are gone but i have been feeling chronically hot and sweating a lot even if its feezing outside, and i get a head rush every time i stand up. i've been very ichy too and my skin is breaking out which is not normal for me. i guess it's better than the stimulents tho, because they made me feel cranky all the time. i hope the side effects get better, and if anyone else is experiencing any of this stuff please post!

I have been taking 80 mg of Strattera for 3 1/2 months now and had previously taken it but had stop. I have not really noticed any side effects until the last couple of weeks when the acid reflux started. I thought it was something I had eaten until I associatied it with started everyday about 1/2 to 1 hour after I take the Strattera. Has anyone else noticed this and has it has gone away? Is there hope?

I've been taking 80 mg Strattera for 2 weeks now, the only side effect I've been experiencing is dry mouth, increased heart beat and heat flashes. Of course, I'm also taking Prozac, Provigil, Lithium and Mirapex, so it could be a number of things. Just yesteday I've decided to start taking the Strattera right before bed, see if that might work better. Anyone who has taken Stratt. in the morning and switched to night, please post with your input
