Lamictal-Scalp Itching????

Posted by KrissyP on March 9, 2003, at 20:13:20

Hi all,
Just wanted to see if those of you who take or took Lamictal have ever had your scalp itch,
A lot??? I'm on my second week of 50mg at night, and today, my scalp has just itched and itched and noooo it's not dandruff-promise lol
I get my hair colored-and got it done today-that's when it started, but this never happens.
Any feedback/experiences would be greatly appreciated as always:-)
Thanks, Kristen

HA! Finally someone who has this same problem. Yes, Lamictal seems to make my scalp very sensitive in general, but especially so when i up the dose. It's like my head is sunburnt. It also gives me a ton of pimples on my chest (sorry for the mental image). Have you had that too? More pimples in general? What color did you color your hair to and from what? Heh, just curious.

Hi there, For a few days, I thought I was the only one who is experiencing this-it's weird huh?
I am upping the dose of Lamictal next week, I hope I don't feel too sunburned lol
I haven't had many pimples pop up. I just ITCH, my arms, my back, my legs, and my scalp.
It may be my laundry soap, but I doubt it.
hehehe-I weave my hair-blonde. I've been a blonde most of my life. What do you do to help this "scalp problem"???
All the best, keep posting:-)

What do I do to help it....... I just ignore it I guess. I haven't thought of a treatment. If you don't mind me asking, are you still in school? I always wonder what people on this board are like.

hiya,
I guess I'll just itch my scalp and ignore it too. LOL
Yep I'm still in college, 32, single, have a puppy:-), working towards my BA in Psych and Health (1 year to go finally), and I'm just an average girl, outgoing, likes to help, and love to learn about what works for people and what doesn't concerning mental ilnesses, and meds.
Did this help?
LOL Kristen:-)

Shouldn't you be in grad school by now, heh. And what's with you being average? I've used that in a derogatory way in certain contexts. Well at least you seem to be somewhat jolly dealing with your mental handicap. Hopefully people will think you're a very thoughtful and inquisitive person now that you're always scratching your head.

LOLOLOLOL yeah, I should be in grad school by now-but ya know what they say don't 'should' on yourself hehehehe
My 'jolliness', no doubt is because the meds are most likely starting to kick back in (Effexor) plus-I don't know how, but I seem to be doing pretty good- I'm sure you'll see a post if I'm not ;) LOL *scratching my head*
Take it easy, keep in touch too:-)

I am so psyched to read your message!! I am not alone or crazy. I have been on Lamictal for seven months and I am having severe scalp issues! It itches like crazy and I can't stop fiddling with it. In fact, I have decided to reduce my dose from 150mg to 100mg in hopes to help it.
Have you found anything that helps it otherwise?
