I take 15 mg of adderall once a day- occasionally I split one and take it as a second dose. It worked GREAT in the beginning but I'm noticing that I cannot focus- today is especially bad. I should be studying my little heart out, instead I'm lurking and posting here. I've only been on it for a few months (since November). What do we do in this case. Do I up the dose or does this mean I have to switch to something else already?

Actually I just started topamax last night and realized it may interfere with my ability to concentrate. Will I have to up my adderall to balance out thye topamax?

Adderall has just stopped working for me, I don't understand. I took 10mg twice a day for about a month. It was great! Last week my doctor decided to up my dosage because it wasn't lasting long enough. I am now taking 20mg twice a day, but I am feeling tired and just plain kicked...all day long. I can't focus, I am also having anxiety problems. I've tried to play around with the adderall, it seems that it has completely stopped working for me. Is this normal? Should I try dexedrine?

I am the queen of Adderall poop-out. For ME, it poops out after only a couple of days, even at a low dose (5 mg.) I've tried everything -- upping the dose, taking it several times a day, taking it every other day, etc. -- but the same thing always happens. I feel great at first, then a couple days later I feel very tired, and then, if I continue it, I actually get very sick and fluish. I keep trying because it works so well those first few days.
The same thing happened for me on Ritilin and Provigil. My pdoc just prescribed Dex to see what might happen -- I have read on this board that Dex causes less "crash effect" in some people than Adderall. I am going to take very small doses (2.5 mg. to start) a few times a day. I'll keep you posted -- I'm starting tomorrow.
Good luck, and I am sorry about the poop-out. That's the biggest heart-breaker, I know.

hi cindy. i am currently on a high dose of adderall (20mg 3x daily). i've had a similar poop out experience to your's, minus the sick/flu symptoms. the last time i was on adderall, i had awful depression when i went off of it. it lasted for at least a week then it gradually subsided. does this happen to you? any advice on how to go off adderall? thanks.

Howdy Ya,ll,
After seeing 3-4 posts,all saying basically the same thing about this drug,I feel a bit relieved.The same thing happened to me.It seems to happen mostly to folks who are on a combo of meds.Adderrall is made up of 4 different Amphetamine salts and they all work on different parts of the brain and CNS.As a result,the possible side-effects and drug interactions increase.Adderrall is usually a bit harder on ones system anyway,especially when other meds are combined.I changed to Dexedrine,which has only 1 salt in it and I,ve noticed it is more "user-friendly" than the Adderrall was,for me ,anyway.Hope this info helps.Festus

I take 30mg of adderall xr daily, and i know how it is...with adderall, (I believe) that the best way to rebuild some of your tolerance is by usually going off of it a few days (which can be quite harsh, I know)...then it's potency increase somewhat...but of course, this is just what I do. You might wanna try out focalin (the active isomer of ritalin) I havent tried it before, but that's probably the next best thing to try considering the only thing more potent is probably desoxyn, which i doubt you could get a script for.

Hi Craig,
I wish I had an answer. I have yet to find a cure for the withdrawal I get from Adderall. I just suffer through it for a few days.Are you back on the Adderall now? Have you tried Dexedrine? I am trying very low doses of Dex a few times a day -- just about 2.5 mg. (but I am very med-sensitive so that may be ridiculously low for "normal" people.) So far, so good, but it's only been two days.

I take 90 mg and occasionally 120mg AdderallXR in combo w/ 3 other meds. I haven't ever had poopout on stims.
I recently went off of Adderall to try Straterra for a few weeks which, for me, wasn't good.
When I started back on Adderall a few days ago, it was way more powerful. I agree with jesus to try and not take it everyday or skip weekends occasionally when there isn't much to do.
From what I see here, Dex is still at the top of the list for effectiveness with many people.
Thank God for stims..hopefully everyone can find a non-pooper.

Howdy Craig,
Never tried selegeline.Been on Dex a few months.The main differences in the Adderrall,it seemed to do to me like some of the others,feeling"flu-like"symptoms and sometimes hard to breath or catch my breath.I felt a real crash when it wore off.It was just kinda hard on my system.Dex just seems to be easier on my "insides".It has good effect and staying power,just don,t make me feel rough like the Adderrall,no bad crash.I,m on the SR caps,though.festus
