i need insomnia (like parnate) - what stim is best

Posted by cybercafe on January 13, 2003, at 13:33:27

when i took parnate (only 30 mg) with zyprexa i was getting a decent 8 hours of sleep, and able to jump out of bed in the morning! :)

its been 2 months without parnate, and even with 40 mg of ritalin sr i'm still sleeping 10 - 12 hours of my day away
and even after 11 hours of sleep, its a fight to get out of bed
(thanks to 5 mg zyprexa)

i'd guess ritalin sr has no effect on my hypersomnia

1) are other stims more likely to cause insomnia?
1b) which ones?

2)is there a particular stim metabolite in parnate that keeps you awake at night, or is the MAO inhibition involved as well?

3)does anyone know what that stim metabolite is?

4) how do you configure an epson stylus 480 colour printer under linux? ;)

replies greatly appreciated, even if i only get an answer to 1)

Parnate is metabolized into N-acetyltranylcypromine, 4-hydroxytranylcypromine, para-Hydroxytranylcypromine, N,O-diacetyltranylcypromine

para-Hydroxytranylcypromine acts as a MAOI, it also has some reuptake properties (serotonin and catecholamines)

Methamphetamine has been isolated as a metabolite, also. (Forensic Sci Int 1997 Apr 18;86(1-2):103-8) I believe this was in an overdose..This is the only reference to an amphetamine metabolite I could find, most suggest that amphetamine is NOT a metabolite.

FWIW, Parnate's chemical structure is similar to amphetamine

your reply is much appreciated :)

is there any indication as to what stimulant parnate's effects resemble closely, and which they do not?
