nerve zaps/shocks

Posted by Katia on January 1, 2003, at 19:22:56

Hi,
I've been on EffexorXR for three months now and lately I've been experiencing nerve like shocks in my head and throughout my body, which happen in an instant. It happens especially when I turn my head too fast. Anyone else experiencing this and is it dangerous?
Thanks.
Katia

Have you lowered your dose or do you ever skip a day or forget to take it?
It's a very common sign of withdrawing too fast from it.

Here's to no more zaps,

Phil

Hi Katia,

I got these a lot on nardil and even went to a neurologist. They are probably from sudden rises and falls of blood pressure and frequently happen when you turn your head too quickly. They are not dangerous, at least according to the neurologist. But very annoying! They went away eventually for me, but I can't say why, and I never figured out a way to prevent them.

Hi Katia,

I got them on every SSRI I have been on but mine did go away after being on the med for a while. I just switched to Lexapro and am having them again. Hang in there. On the prior ones mine did go away after a while.
