US Military Encourages Dex Use as Go Pills

Posted by fachad on January 3, 2003, at 10:37:02

I just had to post a link to this CNN story:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/01/02/mistaken.bombing/index.html

Apparently the pilots who bombed friendly Canadian troops last year are claiming as their defense that they were "coerced" by the Air Force to take dex, which impaired their judgement.

The Pentagon, however, stated that it considers Dex an appropriate "fatigue management agent".

I knew this was common in WWII, but I had no idea this was part of our current military.

It seems very ironic and hypocritical that the FDA and DEA position is that while amphetamines are useful in some conditions, they are absolutely not appropriate for "fatigue management", and here we have the DOD contradicting that position.

I though it was regular ol methamphetamine
(speed). Yeah its fairly common practice.

It does make you more alert but it can
also make you a little more angry and
trigger happy.

Esquire this month has an article about that subject this month. They said the armed services were moving to a stay-awake drug of epic proportions, Modafinil. Said it gave them 40 straight hours of alertness.
For the first time in my life, I wrote the editor. I basically told them to do some research and Modafinil is over-priced, not very effective. I said if the soldiers are copping a buzz like that, they may be taking Modfinil, maybe 1600mg a day! I took 400mg of that stuff and go right to sleep.
