Anybody on this combo, effexor, cylert, neurontin?

Posted by noelle on December 18, 2002, at 17:36:52

I just added cylert (pemoline) to the mix because I having so much apathy, and couldn't focus. I've been on other stims but they are way to short acting. I'm a bit concerned with the liver thing and I have no idea when to take everything. Any suggestions

Not to sound abrupt but wow that is a wild combo? Is your Dr. trying to recreate Nardil? Why just ask him for it?

I hope you don't have a Dr. like I had one time - using me as a guinea pig for his drug trials...

Good luck though - hope it works out but I guess I would be curious what other ideas could offer besides strange drug combos.

Do you have ADD? Whatever it is - there are usually some good algorithms which are standard to follow - unless you've been thorugh more traditional ideas....

That combo sounds like an attempt to recreate an MAOI like agent - if by any chance you got Social Phobia (or atypical depression or dysthymia) - consider the MAOI and also check me out at

A good read you won't regret it even if you don't have SP.

Cylert is very weak. Why not add Exronax (reboxetine) to the cocktail ? In sufficent doses, it wakes up and makes you feel less numb. Also, switching from Effexor to Serzone or (better) Wellbutrin should kill the numbing...

Thanks for your reply and actually It wasn't really his combo he just added the cylert. I've been on anti-depressents and stimulants on and off. I've been loosely diagnosed with ADD, but I also suffer from some pretty narly depression, who knows which came first. I was on Adderall untill I got really depressed and got some testing MMPI, showed high levels of depression and anxiety. The pychologist did some research and suggested Neurontin. It was actually a God send at the time. When I started Adderall agian I got really tired and figured I needed to balance with some SSRI. I went on Effexor which has been helpful but I have actually no modivation, and I am naturally pretty apathetic. Long story short this new doc suggested Cylert, I hated it and went back to Adderall. I think its about time for some thorough testing.
Thanks
agian

Just wanted to add that I used to be on Wellbutrin, it was ok but I suspect I have GAD so it didn't work that well. I recently did try adding to Effexor and got a really strang effect, I was so tired, and weak. It also made me quite disphoric. I'm really not familiar with Serazone. I'm looking foward to the release of Strattera.
We will see but for now I'll take my late nights with adderall over the blah of effexor
