I just recently started taking Prozac again after a hiatus of four years...
The only effect on my sleep has been very vivid dream recall, besides that, I sleep better than I have in awhile. The only drug I've experienced insomnia with was Wellbutrin, and that was a nightmare in itself...

If your only going to be taking 10 mg of Prozac I wouldn't really expect too much impact on your sleep.
When I went up to 20 mg of Prozac I initially (about a fortnight) had a worsening of my insomnia which then settled down and I sleep better now than I have in a long while.

I'm just curious . . . what are you being treated for? I have panic disorder and, in the past, have taken an ungodly variety of meds. One of those was Paxil, a sister to Prozac, and I'm just wondering if that might help me somewhat. I've tended to balk at the idea (and, frankly, I don't know if it would even work now since the 2nd time I tried Paxil it made my panic symptoms worse).

I have had insomnia while on Prozac, and even off Prozac [due to post menopause, I think]. I took a small dose of Xanax 30 minutes before bedtime, sometimes with a little Trazodone while on Prozac and slept like a baby [and still do with Xanax]. However, on 10 mgs Prozac you may not need anything. Sweet dreams....

I was originaly diagnosed with major depressive
disorder about two years ago, however since
then I have learned a little more about myself,
It was primarily an anxiety disorder that just got nasty, I had probably been suffering with dysthemia for a while before.Linkadge

Have you tried 50mg trazodone to help with the sleep at night? It helps me a lot.
This is the end of the thread.
