I take Depakote and I have no idea what people are talking about when they say depakote sprinkle or depakote er.
I didn't even know there was more than one form of depakote.
But I did notice that those taking the sprinkle version had increadable hair loss problems.
Yikes.

The "sprinkle" version of Depakote is designed to be opened and added to applesauce or other soft food for people who would ordinarily have difficulty swallowing whole tablets or need to take smaller doses (children with epielepsy, i.e.).

In medication terms, ER normally means "extended release". Of course, this means that the medicine is released into your bloodstream over an extended period of time.

I have taken ER and am currently taking sprinkle only b/c I take a very small dose (125 mg.) and ER only comes in 500 mg. "horse" pills :)
There is not a huge difference in terms of nausea.

I took Depakote sprinkle and also lost LOTS of hair! It got me so scared, I quit taking it after about 2 months. It took a few months after that to get it out of my system I guess because I still lost hair for months afterwards. But eventually, I now have thick hair again. I feel for ya!
