I have been on lexapro almost a month now. Id like to know if anyone out there has opinions on this medication and their sex drives and orgasms. I didn't take any antidepressants for about 3 years because i was sick of not having orgasms. It can be a no win having to take antidepressants...makes you feel better then ruins your sex life. Its too soon for me to say yet, I have a sex drive but no orgasms yet. Anyone care to share their experiences on sex and lexapro?

I have less side effects on Lexapro than I did on Prozac or Celexa. I feel more alert and less tired during the day. Unfortunately, the sexual side effects are the same for me as when I was on Celexa. (Prozac was even worse for me in terms of sexual side effects).
I take Lexapro 20 mg in the morning. For some reason, I have less sexual side effects at night than I do in the morning. And this applies even if I have sex before taking the dose in the morning. I can still have an orgasm in the morning but it takes a long time and the erection is not as firm as it would be without medications.
If I take yohimbine about an hour before sex, the side effects mostly go away. But then I feel kind of jittery for a few hours.
For a man, the best and safest solution is probably Viagra. Of course that's very expensive. For men or women solutions include adding Wellbutrin, Remeron, Trazodone, Buspar, Ritalin, and some others.

I have definitely had a much harder time orgasming, as with all SSRI's, but my orgasms are AMAZING. Anyone else experience this?

I was on wellbutrin for 1 month and no sexual side effects .Now 3 weeks on lex no sex drive and noooooo orgasms this really sucks This is my first time on medication. Im only 31 this sucks.

I haven't noticed a change in sex drive. Today makes 5 weeks and 5 days on Lexapro!
Mari, I understand completely. I am only 18! Paxil was probably the worst for sexual s/e(also, I was on it longer than the other meds I'd tried).

HAPPY AGAIN! Maybe this board had a effect on me.When you read so much of something you think about it so much. I think thats what happened to me. I had an orgasm yesterday and it was my birthday what a gift my husband gave me. I think I was thinking about it way to much.Now I A have no complaints on lex GOOD LUCK TO ALL
