Seroquel Quandary

Posted by Mimi on May 31, 2002, at 19:47:32

Hello all,
As you may know I recently switched to Seroquel from Zyprexa because of weight gain. Seroquel is not working as well, and now I must decide whether to increase the dose or give up on it. My pdoc said to go ahead and increase but I may experience sedation. My girl friend says I have zero tolerance for sedation. Another option is to go back to Risperdal in combo with bromocriptine. I'm only on 50 mg of Seroquel. My question is what are the side effects of Seroquel like at a therapeutic level? Is the benefit worth the side effects?

Hi Mimi...

I'm wondering how you are doing on the Seroquel? I'm switching from Zyprexa to it tomorrow night - did your weight gain stop? Get used to the sedation? Any advice is welcome!

Hi Jan...
Yes, my weight gain stopped immediately & I even dropped some of it, which was welcome. I don't really feel sedated on Seroquel. I would say if you are a female to go for it (Seroquel). It is the least problematic (fewer side effects) than Risperdal or Zyprexa. My life is improved.
Keep posting.
