Depression and Clinical trials in UK

Posted by Denise528 on September 28, 2002, at 6:31:31

Does anyone know how I can find out about Clinical Trials in the UK. I've scoured the internet and can't find anything. There seems to be so many going on in the States for neuropeptides and CRF antagonists, when I type in Substance P or CRF Antagonists or TRMS and UK I get nothing but US studies. Also it's so hard to get information in the UK. I was trying to get hold of a list of psychiatrists who operated privately in the UK and after making numerous phone calls, searching the internet etc I was still no wiser.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response, it's a great site. The thing is when I go to "Clinical trials in psychiatry" and then select location, UK istn't there as an option. Is this because there aren't any clinical trials for new treatments for depression in the UK? I'll keep looking though.

I've just done an advanced search on Depression/Clinical Trials/UK and nothing comes up. There's loads however in America.

I suspect there aren't any in the UK I think I'm going to have to move to the States.

I found a lot of sites on cancer drug trials in the UK. I thought I saw somewhere that you could request info on psychiatric drug trials for a fee..not sure.
Use Google as your search engine and phrase the question differently each time. If it's on the net, you'll find it.
Went to benzo.org. I'd hate to have to refill my clonazepam in the UK. Seems to be a phobia there.

Denise, I have no idea what the pharmacists in the UK are like, but is there any good one you can ask who might know? How about a good pharmacist associated with a psychiatric hospital? They'd be more liable to info on testing of new psychotropic meds than you could find. Just make sure it's not a run-of-the-mill druggist who couldn't care about new developments.

Hi,
Is there any particular aspect of research into depression in the UK which you would like to be aware of,or you just want to read about any UK research releted to depression?
