Is Remeron THE Worst Anti-Dep. or what!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by McPac on September 13, 2002, at 16:30:55

After being on Remeron for a while (but only recently, 10 days ago, increasing the dose to high levels (45 mg.), this drug seems pretty worthless to me!
Has Remeron worked as an anti-dep. for ANYBODY or is it just an overhyped, worthless drug?

n=1 never makes for a study of any significance, except for n.

It works very well for me.

Remeron is a great anti-d for me. It lifted me out of a 18 month depression and has me functioning and working again. I have been on several anti-d's in the past 13 yrs and this one has been the greatest with regards to minimal side affects. Been on it 9 mos now :)

I think my frustration re: Remeron is due to 2 facts:
First, I'm going through Zoloft withdrawal while simultaneously waiting for the Remeron to 'kick in'.
I just hope that once I do feel better that the Remeron can continue working LONG TERM.
I read that Remeron could, for some, lose it's 'sleep aid' quality over time.........I sure hope not because I NEED it also for dreadful insomnia.

I would not think so. True, it is very sedating at first but this levels off. But it still remains
good for sleep. In this respect, it acts like a TCA.

Oracle/Anybody else

This is only my 12th day on higher-dose Remeron (45 mg). After I take it, it really seems to sedate and calm my 'nerves'. But after it wears off, I feel the agitation/irritability/nerves all over again. I don't know if I need to add something for this OR if I just need to stay on the Remeron longer until it builds up a level in my body. Another point is that I stopped Zoloft just two weeks ago. From your experiences, do you think it will just take a while longer before the Remeron works 'all day' rather than just a half day? I know it is supposed to be good for the anxiety/agitation......but I'm really beginning to wonder. Hopefully another week at 45 mg and I'll STAY agitation/anxiety free. I'm even wondering if higher doses of Remeron (as opposed to say 15 mg) may be MAKING the agitation/irrit.??? I think another poster here, Shawn T., used to say this.

As I posted already, Rem is a great anti-d for my depression, but to be honest, it sucks for anxiety!!! I take clonazepam for that. You may not get the anti-anxiety effect your looking for from Rem, you may need to add a benzo.

I take Celexa 40mg for anxitety and depresion, it works realy well..Also I find it takes a while befor the dose type of medicine, to let your body get used to it then you feel less agitation, more calm.
