Looks like I get to give the first review! It's a tentative thumbs up. I can't give a definite thumbs up yet because the pharmacy did not have enough of it on friday. They will have it today. But the pharmacist did have 20mg so it was enough for friday. Then saturday and sunday and today, I took my ususal 60 mg Celexa. I have been on Celexa for 3 years with very good results.

When I took my first dose of 20 mg Lexapro on friday, I felt good. I have a good feeling about it based on the first dose, but of course it will take a lot more than one day to form an opinion. Also it will take at least a few weeks to properly evaluate the side effects.

Do you have any sexual dysfunction on Celexa?

Yes. But not as much as I had on Prozac. Occasionally, I will take yohimbine about an hour before sex and that helps. But it can also cause insomnia if you take it at night. All in all the sexual side effects are definitely there, but not terrible. Hopefully the situation will improve with Lexapro.

Starting Lex tonight.

The Forest rep hasn't even been by to see my doctor. No samples, no mugs, no pens. What's the world coming to?

I will give updates on how the drug works for me.

Bet if you write to Forest they'll give you a coffee cup. Make up a really heart-wrenching story about yourself.

I spoke to my doctor (an internist) last week and to another internal med doctor yesterday. Neither one had samples of Lexapro or knew anything about it. But I gave my doc the prescribing info from the internet and he prescribed it.

I'm on my 2nd day of 20 mg Lexapro (replacing 60 mg Celexa). So far I feel better than on the Celexa. (Although I did feel very good on the Celexa). I feel less tired and more mentally sharp. It could however just be a placebo affect so I will need another week or so to be sure that it really is better for me than Celexa.

I had the same experience (w/ my dr.). I am going to start as soon as I get my scrip filled, but my doctor didn't know it was out yet and had to call the pharm for prescribing info. I don't have any grand expectations for this, but sure would welcome a little break from the norm. I'll keep you guys posted.

Yes, that is why I asked. I would be very interested to know if you have less sexual side effects on Lexapro than on Celexa. Please keep us posted.

Re: Lexapro anyone ?My 2 cents

I have previously used all of the SSRI's with limited success and have just started lexapro the least three days. I am a very quick responder to meds and have seen some benefits, but the side effects of theis "cleaned up" drug are still horrible. The insomnia and nausea is at least as bad as that of celexa, if not worse. My take is that you shouldn't expect anything different from celexa. In otherwords if celexa worked well for you, then make the switch. If not, I wouldn't bother.

I just started 3 days ago as well. I feel much better but did notice the insomnia starting last night. I'm sorry you are having difficulity. Are you going to stick with it?

As for me, I'll take the insomnia if I feel better. Then again, I haven't had the nausea, etc. My intolerance comes when meds wipe me out and I feel weak and have to sleep a lot.

Have you tried changing the dose time to combat the insomnia?

I switched from 60 mg celexa to 5mg of "the pro" on Thursday and while I psychologically feel fine, physically i feel like hell. So nauseous and achy. No appetite and I couldn't have sex if you payed me. Please tell me this will go away. This feeling happened when I switched ad's once before. Ugh!

From what I've read on dosage equivalence: 60mg Celexa = 15mg Lexapro. You're likely experiencing a touch of withdrawal from the reduction.

I am on my 3rd day of Lexapro 10 mg. I do have to say that since I started taking it, I have noticed a decrease in both my anxiety and depression. Physically, it is a different ball game. I am tapering down on the effexor and am nauseous, vomitting, and dizzy. I will keep you posted.
