Barr's generic Adderall

Posted by Peter on August 22, 2002, at 18:34:04

I just got a prescription filled for adderall 10mg. When I got home and took out the pills, I noticed that the pharmacy gave me the generic form: Amphetamine Salts Combo by Barr. I've never used the generic form of adderall before. My pdoc is on vacation so his assistant wrote the script for me-I guess she didn't know to indicate 'brand.' I already checked out the FDA's Orange Book and saw that generic adderall has an AB rating, so it's been tested and proved in its equivalence. But I'd like to here from any of you what you think, since I take your opinions more seriously than the FDA's (-: So, has anyone used generic adderall? Any difference from brand that I should be aware of?
Thanks,
Peter

Hello Peter,
I just ran across your message and have a few questions for you. I have been taking generic adderall (by barr pharmaceutical)for about 3 months now and still no change. I have been checking the message boards and noticed that several patients have noticed a difference with the generic. I have had absolutely no change but also I have had not 1 side effect. I know that there is a chance that I still need a dosage increase but I just dont know what is going on. I started on 20 mg-1 in am, and was on that for about 2 weeks and then increased to 30 mg-1 in am, for about three weeks and now I am on 40 mg-1 in am, for about 2 weeks now. I just think its extremely strange that I have had no effect. Please tell me what your experience was?
Thank you,
Dimplez626
