celexa question

Posted by borderliner21 on June 11, 2002, at 12:14:06

I have been taking 20 mg of celexa and 2.5 mg of zyprexa a day for the last 3 weeks. I stopped taking my celexa 2 days ago. How long does celexa take to leave your system?

Its generally accepted that practically all traces will be gone after 5 half lives of the product. In Celexa's case since the half life is 36 hours then that would be 180 hours or about 7 and a half days.

I am starting to wean off of Celexa(20 mg.), which I have been on for 8 months, what are the side effects of getting off of it?

I just finished weaning. I did 10mg for 2 weeks and then off. I am day 4 now. I am experiencing dizziness, major mood swings, and anxiety. How did you do?

I went down to 10 mg. for a week. When I was completely off of the Celexa for about two weeks I still experienced dizziness and mood swings. It does all go away. Stick with it, it was worth it for me. I feel great now, I have been off of it for about a month and a half. After experiencing all of the side effects while going off of it, it just confirmed to me that I made the right decision to get off of it.

Good luck and I hope you feel good soon.
