Because everyone of them I ever took just gave me EPS and made my muscles tighten up and made me feel more depressed. Everyone I ever took also made me feel like a freaking zombie and made me feel "flat" emotionally.

Oh yeah, in addition to the above every atypical anti-psychotic I ever tried made my tongue numb and gave me these little muscle pops and twitches. All of them did that...Risperdal, Seroquel and Zyprexa and I only took them at low doses. I cant imagine what they'd do to me at schizophrenia dosages. Maybe turn me into a stiff piece of cardboard?

That's because the brains of some of these pdocs are made of cardboard. They don't think creatively and many don't think at all. They follow a protocol or a "one size fits all" recipe that fails to take the individual into account. Not all pdocs are like this, but it is very difficult to find excellent doctors. The term "treatment resistant depression" is, in and of itself, a terrible term, for it puts the onus the patient, instead of on the high-priced big-shot doctors, the greedy pharmaceutical companies, and the FDA.

Have you tried Geodon... I tried all of the others and had the same problems, but Geodon has been amazing. Just a thought, in case you haven't had it before.

No thank you. If I absolutely had to take an anti-psychotic in the future I would opt for Clozapine. Clozapine is the safest anti-psychotic when it comes to movement disorders, I dont think there are any reports of it ever causing TD in anyone. However Clozapine has other bad side effects and its a serious drug which requires serious weekly monitoring.

Also, even better than Clozapine for affective disorders with psychotic features is good old fashioned bilateral ECT. Id opt for old fashioned bilateral ECT ANYDAY over nasty anti-psychotic drugs. Id take six months of memory loss anyday over a drug induced movement disorder. Hell, my memory is already shot from the severe depression Ive had anyway.

Bilateral ECT is far superior to anti-psychotic drug/mood stabilizer/antidepressant combinations. Both in effectiveness and in safety to your physical health.

Thanks,

Electro convulsive therapy. Shock treatments. It is very safe for most people and probably is better for your health than gobbling four meds a day like I do.
If you are profoundly depressed and your doctor determines that waiting on meds to work is putting the patient at risk, ECT will be recommended. With some people the first treatment is inpatient but they can do the remaining treatments on an outpatient basis. You get betweem 6-12 treatments.
The outpatient thing is fairly new and can save a ton of money.

I thought Bifrontal was just as effective as bilateral and causes less memory loss, why would you have bilateral?

How long did you take Antipsychotics before they gave you EPS?

And how come you haven't had ECT if your such an advocate of it?

Denise
