My lithobid 600mg was blood level 0.4. (after
3 weeks). It wasn't doing much.My urinalysis showed a "low specific gravity"
again (they thought it might be a fluke when
I did the screening test). My kidney's are overly
diluting my urine or something like that..While they try to sort that out, my doctor
increased the lithobid to 1200 mg/day (This was
4 days ago).I think I'm feeling the effects of the bump as of
about 15 minutes ago. All of a sudden I feel a bit
more relaxed and apathetic and my thoughts are decelerated...John

John,
Thanks for the update. I mentioned this before, but I just added lithobid and 1.25 mg zyprexa. At 600 mg. my 12 hour level was 0.3. My doc is a big advocate of the slow and low, so I have bumped it up to 900 mg/day. I found that after my first 3 days at 600 I felt really good. This lasted for a day or two. Since my bump to 900 I think I got another good couple days which is fading. It sounds like the both of us are pretty fast metabolizers of meds. I would have to say that lithobid has to be one of the most mild drugs I have ever taken. I tool the carbonate form in the past and it sucked. I would get a huge boost in the first hour and then feel sick to my stomach. My current (newer) doctor says the lithobid makes a big difference as a spike with the other is very common. Keep us posted. Thanks.

I'm hoping this 1200 mg dose is the magic number.
I was surprised too at how benign the lithobid has been on my body.
Of the list of 20?+ meds that I have taken, it is in the top 5 in regards
to tolerability.Take Care,
John

>John,
This is what I love about lithobid. When the dose is right, you and your body just have a nice "chill." All the clatter and bother around just doesn't seem so important! IMHOI hope the Li therapy continues to help. And I am glad your pdoc is following up on the specific gravity mystery.
Keep us posted :)

Yes, you will definitely feel more relaxed and mellow, and most importantly at ease (as opposed to restless).

Wierd experince...went to the ER because I tweaked my neck bad and ended up passing out w/ minor convulsions. Everything came out fine, but what was interesting is they did a lithium level about 5 hrs. after my nighttime 600mg. lithobid dose. Still only a 0.6. Don't be surprised if you have to monkey around with your dosing a bit still. Sounds like I might.
